District Professional Development Committee

The District Professional Development Committee plays a crucial role in guiding and coordinating professional development efforts across the District. The committee is responsible for identifying priorities for District-wide professional development programs, implementing tools to enhance these initiatives, and advising the Chancellor on the allocation of resources dedicated to professional development.

Goals:

The committee is committed to planning and delivering a variety of activities and programs that include but not limited to:

  • Activities that enhance and improve student learning outcomes.
  • Maintain and advance current academic and technical knowledge and/or skills.
  • Provide in-service training for career and technical education, as well as employment preparation programs.
  • Offer programs to meet the evolving needs of the District.
  • Support professional development programs that enrich the skills and knowledge of faculty, staff, and managers.
  • Strengthen leadership capabilities across the District.
  • Foster innovation in instructional methods, administrative processes, and training to improve program effectiveness.
  • Increase computer literacy and technological proficiency.
  • Expand awareness and understanding of equal employment opportunity, cultural competency, and diversity issues.

Objectives:

To achieve these goals, the committee will:

  • Develop a coordinated series of training sessions focused on the factors that influence student success.
  • Ensure the regular scheduling and delivery of these training sessions each academic year.
  • Implement, evaluate, and refine training sessions to maximize their impact.
  • Provide recommendations to the District Consultation Council regarding future training initiatives.
  • Establish a Leadership and Professional Development Institute, offering a series of interactive and informative workshops aimed at enhancing the leadership and management skills of faculty, classified staff, supervisors, managers, and administrators across the District.
  • Create and implement a mentoring program to support participants in the Leadership and Professional Development Institute.
