Employee Training Opportunities

NOCCCD employs more than 2,500 people of diverse backgrounds and experiences who provide quality education and services to our students and communities.

One of NOCCCD’s most important responsibilities is ensuring employees are adequately trained. Effective trainings can help staff, faculty, managers, and administrators be more successful in their roles and help promote compliance with applicable laws, policies and procedures. A variety of annual and new staff trainings assist greatly in developing employees' skills and competencies which contribute to efficient work performance.

NOCCCD provides a variety of resources to help our staff stay informed about the latest trends in education and workforce development. 

Mandatory Employee Training

Training Opportunities and Resources

  • EdVantage Workshops 
    Staff may register online for any classes that are offered by Information Services, such as Banner Navigation and Argos training, using the EdVantage Workshop Calendar. The calendar can be accessed by logging into myGateway and clicking on EdVantage under Employee Tools.
  • Vision Resource Center 
    The Vision Resource Center is an online learning and communication platform that offers all California community college employees equitable access to professional development opportunities and supports efforts to fulfill the goals outlined in the Vision for Success. The Vision Resource Center offers: Thousands of learning modules, including content specifically created for the California Community Colleges; systemwide online communities and a calendar that lists all professional development events open to California Community College professionals.
  • FEMA Emergency Management Institute 
    The Emergency Management Institute (EMI) offers self-paced courses designed for people who have emergency management responsibilities and the general public. All are offered free-of-charge to those who qualify for enrollment.

Argos Training

Argos is a reporting tool used in conjunction with the Banner system. Users are able to access data quickly and download the information for further analyzation.

Banner Navigation Training

Banner Navigation teaches employees how to "navigate" in NOCCCD's Banner system. It includes an introduction to the Banner interface and the basic principles of data entry and searching. This class is required for all staff prior to getting their Banner Log On ID.

Banner Finance

Banner Finance includes training manuals and videos to guide NOCCCD employees in using the District's primary finance tools.

Banner Training

Banner Training offers general training and information for NOCCCD Banner system, including keyboard shortcuts and security precautions.

Degree Works

Degree Works is a web-based system designed to assist students and advisors in monitoring academic progress towards degree/certificate requirements in an easy-to-read worksheet format.

Human Resources

Includes EEO & Diversity Training for Search Committees and Title IX information.

Microsoft Office and O365

Microsoft 365 highlights some useful tools and features of MS 365 applications used within NOCCCD.

myGateway

These are quick start guides and basic information for NOCCCD's myGateway portal, used by District students and staff.

myGateway Finance

The new myGateway portal includes a menu link to the Finance page. This page is available to staff members who monitor and maintain budgets and financial transactions.

Phones

NOCCCD employees can use Cisco Jabber to send instant messages, make phone calls, join meetings, and manage contacts.

Qualtrics Online Survey

Qualtrics gives users the tools to create their own surveys using online data collection, and to analyze the results.

Security

NOCCCD employees are expected to follow digital security protocols in order to protect the District, its staff, and its students from bad actors, malware, phishing schemes, and other online threats.
