Our Mission, Values & Philosophy

We focus on the people who make up our District, and on building an interactive, mutually supportive community that allows for growth and personal advancement for our staff and the students they support. Some of our primary responsibilities and priorities include: recruitment; personnel services; contract management and labor negotiations; federal, state, and District compliance; diversity and equal opportunity (EEO) compliance; and benefits administration.

Our Mission

The Human Resources Department is committed to attracting, hiring, engaging, developing and retaining highly qualified personnel to support the educational success of our students.

Our Values

The Human Resources Department fosters a culture that values diversity, treats everyone with respect, and strives for excellence in the delivery of services to our customers.

Our Philosophy

One of the most valued resources of the North Orange County Community College District is its employees.  Consistent with this belief, we believe in the dignity and worth of all individuals. We further believe that learning is a lifelong process and that all individuals should have opportunities for lifelong education.  To prosper in a complex and changing society, individuals must learn to think independently, develop problem solving abilities and function collaboratively.  Learning contributes significantly to health and happiness and benefits the organization and community in which individuals live and work.

We will continuously seek and support dedicated, highly qualified personnel who are diverse in terms of cultural backgrounds, ethnicity and intellectual perspectives and who are committed to fostering a climate of mutual respect, integrity and trust.  We will encourage and support professional development for all personnel and we will all share in the responsibility for student outcomes. Consistent with this philosophy, Human Resources is committed to:

  • Approaching all situations with a positive, can-do attitude, which will flow into and affect work situations
  • Treating everyone with respect, dignity, and empathy, with the recognition that the Office of Human Resources functions as a team
  • Affording employees the opportunities to develop their skills and enhance their career development
  • Ensuring that employees are accountable and responsible by creating an environment of openness and honesty
