Emergency Notification

Rave is the Electronic Notification System of the North Orange County Community College District. It facilitates the quick and efficient distribution of critical information via email, text, and voice messages.

Notifications provide crucial information about events that may significantly impact campus operations, potentially leading to injuries, property damage, and more. These include:

Campus Closings:

  • Campus may close due to severe weather or related events.

Emergency Response:

  • Measures taken for police/fire emergencies impacting safety or operations.

Preparedness:

  • Campus ready for natural disasters, crises, or events disrupting operations.

Shooter Protocols:

  • Protocols in place for on-campus shooter situations.

All members of the NOCCCD community, including students and employees, are strongly encouraged to register their cell phone number with RAVE. In addition to RAVE, the District may utilize various communication channels for notifications, such as campus or district-wide email broadcasts, website updates, and coordinated engagement through public media outlets, social platforms, and public address systems.

For prompt notifications, it's crucial to keep your personal details up-to-date on MyGateway. This ensures RAVE can successfully contact you via your current cell phone number and/or email address.

To update your Personal information, please follow the steps below:

  1. Access your MyGateway account on the NOCCCD website.
  2. Within the My Information Widget, click on the Update Information button.
  3. Select 'Edit' to modify your existing email address or 'Add New' to enter a new one.

Frequently Asked Questions

We use a service District-wide called Regroup to send our emergency and informational messages, and we generally send notifications via voice phone calls, emails, and text messaging.

Individual campus departments may use other methods.

NOCCCD uses Regroup for official campus communications, which may include such things as emergency notifications, appointment reminders, informational messages and other official business. We understand that you don't want unnecessary or irrelevant messages coming your way, and we don't want to spam you either!

Log into myGateway, and in the "Personal Information" channel, visit "Update E-mail Addresses", "Update My Address and Phone", and "Set Text Message Alert Preferences" to make sure we have your current email and phone numbers.

By providing NOCCCD with your contact information, you are granting us permission to send you important and emergency notifications. You may remove your cell phone under "Set Text Message Alert Preferences" and "Update My Address and Phone" in the "Personal Information" channel in myGateway if you would prefer not to receive such information by text message.

We send emergency notifications to students who have registered in a current or upcoming term, to faculty assigned to teach in those terms, and to current permanent employees and any other employees (including student workers and temporary workers) who have recently received a paycheck.

Generally, no. However, you might if you have been employed recently by Cypress or NOCE, or if you have registered even for just one class at Cypress or NOCE.
