By Kai Stearns

North Orange Continuing Education (NOCE), in collaboration with the California Community Colleges Technology and Access Pathways (CC TAP) and the Association of Community & Continuing Education (ACCE), is hosting the second annual Vision 2030 Noncredit Summit on October 3-4, 2024, at The Westin Anaheim Resort in Anaheim, Calif.

North Orange Continuing Education (NOCE), in partnership with the California Community Colleges Technology and Access Pathways (CC TAP) and the Association of Community & Continuing Education (ACCE), is proud to announce the second annual Vision 2030 Noncredit Summit, set to take place on October 3-4, 2024, at The Westin Anaheim Resort in Anaheim, CA. This day-and-a-half summit will bring together higher education leaders, policymakers, community members, and educators to discuss the pivotal role of noncredit education in shaping the future of adult learning and socio-economic mobility.

The summit will begin with a welcome address from the Mayor of Anaheim, followed by two distinguished panel discussions. Dr. Sonya Christian, Chancellor of California Community Colleges, will moderate a panel of California CEOs, while Dr. Byron D. Clift Breland, Chancellor of the North Orange County Community College District (NOCCCD), will lead a student panel highlighting the stories of success and transformation in noncredit education.
As the landscape of higher education evolves, Vision 2030 is spearheading efforts to modernize education and prepare students for the challenges of tomorrow. Rapid changes in technology, the environment, and the economy are driving the need for new approaches to learning, teaching, and workforce preparation. Vision 2030 is an ambitious initiative that seeks to address these challenges by advancing equitable and efficient practices across California’s 116 community colleges.

Noncredit education is an essential component of Vision 2030, offering flexible learning opportunities for adult learners seeking to improve their skills, transition to new careers, or enhance their quality of life. The Vision 2030 Noncredit Summit highlights the unique and powerful impact of noncredit programs on California’s workforce and communities. Noncredit education is the path to upward socioeconomic mobility for many of our community members looking to increase their living wage.

"Noncredit education is a lifeline for adult learners looking to advance their careers and improve their lives," said Valentina Purtell, President of NOCE. "The Vision 2030 Noncredit Summit will showcase innovative programs and provide educators with the tools they need to build and expand these vital services."

Highlights of notable speakers and panelists include Senator Josh Newman, Secretary of the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency Stewart Knox, CEO of the College Futures Foundation Eloy Oakley, President of the California Community Colleges Board of Governors Amy Costa, President of the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges Cheryl Aschenbach, and President of the NOCCCD Board of Trustees Evangelina Rosales.
