Statement of Purpose
District Information Services provides Computer and Telecommunication Technology (CaTT) services to support the mission of the North Orange County Community College District. Four strategies guide the department in providing this support:
- Provide the best technology for the best value by leveraging the investment in systems and people that we already have, and explore new and better technologies to serve our students and staff
- Meet legal and system requirements to insure a sound education for our students
- Provide high quality customer service using tools and techniques that provide staff and students what they need to be successful
- Plan for the future to enhance the ability of the department to more effectively serve our students and staff and respond quickly to environmental changes
Areas of Responsibility:
- Planning, budget, staffing, training, policies, system selection, backup/recovery, business continuity for:
- Banner including Student, Finance, HR, MIS Reporting, Financial Aid, myGateway, Degree Works
- Online Catalog/Schedule
- Assistance for campus websites
- ARGOS reporting tool
- Enrollment Management System (SPMS)
- Event Management System (EMS)
- Mobile Applications
- Library system
- Technology Plan and Administrative Review for Information Services Department
- District-wide infrastructure including:
- Operation of the District-wide Fiber Ring
- Maintenance of Infrastructure standards for construction
- Design of network
- Anaheim campus operations for District Office staff including:
- Wireless and wired network
- Email
- Desktops for District Office staff
- Network and data security legislation and regulation compliance:
- Monitoring and scanning of network connected technology
- Developing security standards in consultation with Technology Coordinating Council
- Contract review for all technology contracts District-wide to insure compliance and consistency
- Approval of all technology purchases for compatibility with infrastructure & other systems
- Coordination of District-wide shared contracts and purchases
- Operation of data center for Educational Technology initiatives as needed
