STUDENT TRUSTEE PRESENTATION - Nehasi Lee honored Student Trustee Tanya Washington on behalf of the Black Caucus Leadership Conference.
FINAL REPORT– United Faculty President Tina Johannsen gave a Final Report as United Faculty President as to how we could be more efficient as a District.
FLAG DAY – DSS Instructor Barbara Anderson invited everyone to attend SCE Annual Flag Day Ceremony on June 14 hosted by the Disability Support Services Program.
ACCREDITATION – Several members of the audience spoke on the Cypress College Self-Study Accreditation Report.

RETIREES – The Board recognized and honored three of the District’s recent retirees: Mela Hoyt-Heydon, Fullerton College Theatre Arts Instructor; Dean Day, SCE Disability Support Services Instructor; and Craig Stephens, SCE Disability Support Services Instructor.
STUDENT TRUSTEE RECOGNITION – The two students serving on the Board of Trustees during the 2016-2017 academic year were recognized: Scott Begneski of Fullerton College and Tanya Washington of Cypress College.
EMPLOYEE SERVICE RECOGNITION – Employees were recognized for years of service to the District in the following categories:

CERTIFICATES OF COMMENDATION - The Board presented Certificates of Commendation to Dr. Mareike Claassen, Fullerton College Mathematics and Engineering Instructor; Christie Diep, Cypress College English Instructor; and Barbara Bennett, SCE Disability Support Services Instructor; for being named 2018 Orange County Department of Education Teacher of the Year Nominees and recipient.
APPRECIATION – Dr. Marshall thanked the NOCCCD leaders concluding service in their prospective roles.

Cypress College – Dr. Bob Simpson, President
COMMENCEMENT – Dr. Simpson gave an update on the plans for the Cypress Commencement Ceremony…SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS - Dr. Simpson acknowledged the significant contributions from across the college related to the Accreditation Self-Study Report and the 10 Year Educational Master Plan…YEAR-END CELEBRATIONS – Dr. Simpson gave an update on all the end of the year celebration events… RETIREMENTS – The college engaged in various retirement celebrations. Dr. Simpson thanked everyone who attended his own retirement celebration…SOFTBALL – Dr. Simpson congratulated the Women’s Softball Team for winning the State Championship. They are the first ever undefeated Women’s Softball State Champions in California Community College history (48-0).
Fullerton College – Dr. Greg Schulz, President
COMMENCEMENT – Dr. Schulz gave an update on the details for the Fullerton College Commencement on May 27…SELF EVALUATION REPORT – The final draft of the Fullerton College Self Evaluation Report was completed… TRANSFER CELEBRATION – Friday May 26 will be Fullerton College’s Annual Transfer Celebration… CSEA APPRECIATION– Dr. Schulz gave an update on the success of the CSEA Employee Breakfast event. The CSEA Classified Staff Appreciation Lunch will be on June 7… RECEPTIONS – Dr. Schulz gave an update on the success of the Puente Program Banquet and the Foundation Scholarship Reception events… ADMINISTRATORS OF THE YEAR– Dr. Schulz congratulated Ken Starkman, Dr. Doug Benoit, and Lisa McPheron for being named 2016-2017 Administrators of the Year… STATE CHAMPION – The President congratulated student Justin Walker who won the 2017 State Championship in the 100 M Hurdles.
School of Continuing Education – Valentina Purtell, Provost
SCHOLARSHIP EVENT – Ms. Purtell congratulated the 38 students awarded at the largest SCE Scholarship Event, and thanked those in attendance…CAREER TECHNICAL FAIR – The Provost gave an update on the success of the inaugural SCE Career Technical Education Fair…NAME CHANGE – VisionPoint Marketing shared their first drafts of concept drawings for the new North Orange Continuing Education logo…SUMMER TERM – The 2017 SCE Summer Term class schedule is now available and registration begins May 31…SPECIAL OLYMPICS – The SCE basketball team won the silver medal at the Special Olympics Orange County Regional Games on May 13, 2017...COMMENCEMENT SPEAKER – The SCE Commencement Ceremony will be May 26, 2017. Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva will serve as the keynote speaker…FLAG DAY – Ms. Purtell invited everyone to attend the 18th Annual Flag Day Ceremony on June 14 hosted by the Disability Support Services Program…LEAP EVENT – The Lifeskills Education Advancement Program held its annual collaborative for Older Adults Program on May 18.

DMA UPDATE – District Management Association President Olivia Veloz reported that DMA is in the process of transitioning most of their officers.
DSS PROGRAM – SCE Senate President Adam Gottdank thanked the recent retirees of the Disability Support Services Program and welcomed the new DSS full-time faculty members.
CYPRESS ACCOLADES – Cypress College Academic Senate President Brian Seiling congratulated the student athletes of the Cypress Women’s Softball team. He also reported on the Cypress College Senate Meeting.
SENATE MEETING– Fullerton College Academic Senate President Pete Snyder reported that they finished the final draft of the Fullerton College Mission Statement at the Fullerton College Senate Committee.
NEW PRESIDENT – United Faculty President Tina Johannsen introduced the new United Faculty President Dana Clahane.
CSEA BREAKFAST – CSEA President Rod Lusch thanked those who attended the CSEA Classified School Employee Breakfast.
CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS – Adjunct Faculty United President Kent Stevenson reported that they are still in contract negotiations for new faculty members.

YEAR-END EVENTS – Student Trustee Tanya Washington reported on the various end of the year events she attended and thanked everyone for the opportunity to serve as a Student Trustee.
COMMENCEMENT – Student Trustee Scott Begneski invited everyone to attend the various Commencement ceremonies and thanked everyone for the opportunity to serve as a Student Trustee.
STUDENT TRUSTEES – Trustee Stephen Blount thanked Student Trustees Scott Begneski and Tanya Washington for their service and reported on attending the Orange County Legislative Taskforce Meeting.
COMMENCEMENT – Trustee Ryan Bent reported he will be in attendance at the SCE and Fullerton College Commencement Ceremonies.
PROGRAM EVENTS– Trustee Jacqueline Rodarte reported on her attendance at the SCE Scholarship Luncheon, the Legacy Program Banquet at Cypress College, and the Puente Banquet at Fullerton College.
CELEBRATIONS – Trustee Barbara Dunsheath reported she is thankful to attend numerous end of the year events and reported she is looking forward to commencement celebrations.
CSEA BREAKFAST – Board President Molly McClanahan reported on the success of the CSEA Breakfast and Bob Simpson’s retirement event. She also thanked Student Trustees Washington and Begneski for their service, and welcomed Dr. JoAnna Schilling as the incoming Cypress College President.
Finance and Facilities
COMPUTER EQUIPMENT – The Board authorized the request to approve the desktop computer equipment purchase for Fullerton College in an amount not to exceed $120,944.55 using the Glendale Unified School District Purchasing Agreement #P -13 13/14, to Apple Computers.
SURPLUS ITEMS – The Board authorized the request to declare the attached list of items surplus and for the Liquidation Company to conduct an auction for the sale of the surplus items. Proceeds collected by the auction company will be split between the District (55%) and the auction company (45%).
WORKERS COMPENSATION – The Board authorized the request to enter into an agreement with Hazelrigg Claims Administration Services for the District’s Self-Insured Workers’ Compensation program for FY 2017-18 at an annual fee of $62,315 and ancillary services including Managed Care, with an option to renew for four additional years with a not to exceed 3% administration fee per year provision.
CONSTRUCTION QUESTIONNAIRE – The Board adopted the proposed pre-qualification questionnaire and the related system to prequalify a pool of general contractors that could bid on construction projects valued at $175,001 to $2,000,000 Districtwide.
CONTRACT RENEWAL – The Board authorized the request to renew the consulting agreement with Cambridge West LLC and extend the term of agreement from August 25, 2017 through August 24, 2018 with fees remaining at the rate of $160 per hour, for total fees not to exceed $121,000.
LEASE AGREEMENT – The Board authorized the request to enter into a lease agreement with Anaheim Place Partners, LP, for the use of 10,420 sq. at 505 N. Euclid Avenue, (2nd Floor), Anaheim CA 92801 for total consideration of $355,801.32 from July 1, 2017 through January 31, 2019, for office space for the Adult Education Block Grant (AEBG) personnel.
SOFTWARE UPDATE – The Board authorized the request to expend $311,056.11 for the upgrade to the Enterprise Edition-Named User Plus Perpetual-Campus Wide Program database software over three years, and to incur maintenance costs in year one of $145,875.04 with continued costs at a rate not to exceed 4% increase each year thereafter.
FULLERTON ACCREDITATION – The Board approved the Fullerton College Institutional Self Study for Reaffirmation of Accreditation and recommend that the Board President sign the report on behalf of the Board.
PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT – The Board ratified the Amendment of the 2016-17 NOCCCD Fullerton College and Anaheim Union High School District College and Career Access Pathways (CCAP) Dual Enrollment Partnership Agreement.
PROJECT RAISE FUNDING – The Board authorized the request to accept funding via Project RAISE (Regional Alliance in STEM Education) in the amount of $100,000.
CYPRESS ACCREDITATION – The Board approved the final draft of the Cypress College 2017 Institutional Evaluation for Reaffirmation of Accreditation and recommend that the Board President sign the report on behalf of the Board.
EDUCATIONAL MASTER PLAN – The Board approved the final report of the 2016-2026 Cypress College Educational Master Plan.
RETIREMENTS – The Board approved the retirements of Craig Stephens, SCE Disability Support Services instructor, effective August 20; and Connie Lopez, Fullerton College Cosmetology Instructor, effective May 28.
