The Cypress College "Buen Cypress" greeting was modeled on the Camino de Santiago, a 480-mile trail which travels from France to Spain. For the next 6.5 months, Cypress College will be taking the challenge to complete this journey virtually! Any activity you take part in — walking, running, cycling, rowing — can be counted towards your progress; when you join others in this challenge, the Camino virtual journey app will create an avatar to mark your progress, send you postcards from your milestone cities, plant trees in your honor, and show you the progress of others who are sharing your journey — in other words we will take this journey together! All those who complete the full virtual journey to Santiago will receive a Compostela, or medal of completion, and Cypress College will be hosting some incentive raffles between now and fall 2021 Opening Day to acknowledge and encourage your progress.
If you wish to take the challenge, click this link and say "Yes!" Cypress College will pay the entry fee for the first 100 people who take the challenge, so sign up today! The college will follow up with details on how to participate in the coming days. To add yet another reason to join, the Cypress College Foundation is hosting an optional crowdfunding site to raise funds for each mile you complete. All funds raised will go directly to emergency aid for students.
