Cypress College – Dr. JoAnna Schilling, President
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS – Dr. Schilling congratulated Cypress College retirees, thanked Student Trustee Daniel Sebastian for his service on the Board of Trustees during the 2017-18 academic year, and recognized sophomore Alejandra Gomez for her winning performance at this year’s CCCAA State Swim and Dive Championships… CC2PHD MULTIDISCIPLINARY UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH CONFERENCE – The President announced that 11 Cypress College psychology students were selected to present research projects at the CC2PhD Multidisciplinary Undergraduate Research Conference on May 26, 2018 at UCLA… MEN'S GOLF – Dr. Schilling shared that the Cypress College Men’s Golf team won its first CCCAA State Championship round on May 14, 2018… COMMENCEMENT – The President reported that Cypress College will celebrate its 51st Commencement on May 25, 2018.
Fullerton College – Dr. Greg Schulz, President
COMMENCEMENT – Dr. Schulz announced that Fullerton College will celebrate its 103rd Commencement on May 26, 2018… CAMPUS EVENTS – The President commented on campus events including: Retirement Open House; Transfer Celebration; Students of Distinction Ceremony; and Foundation Scholarship Reception.
North Orange Continuing Education – Valentina Purtell, Provost
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS – Ms. Purtell congratulated NOCE retirees and service pin recipients… PROMOTIONS – The Provost introduced promoted employees Dr. Tina King, Interim Dean of Instruction and Student Services at the Wilshire Center and Raquel Murillo, Manager, Student Success and Equity… STUDENT EVENTS – Ms. Purtell announced upcoming events including the “New Horizons” Scholarship Awards Luncheon on May 25, 2018 at the Anaheim Campus and the 19th Annual Flag Day Ceremony on June 14, 2018 at the Cypress Center.

NOCE ACADEMIC SENATE UPDATE – NOCE Academic Senate President Tina McClurkin reported that the Senate recognized retirees, tenured faculty, and past President Adam Gottdank and is working with the Office of Institutional Research and Planning to develop a student survey and focus groups on transitioning from the term to semester academic calendar.
CC ACADEMIC SENATE UPDATE – Cypress College Academic Senate President Bryan Seiling commented on awards being presented at Commencement to Faculty of the Year Cindy Shrout, Adjunct Faculty of the Year Wayne Chang, and Charger Award recipient Regina Rhymes, winter intersession, and the incoming Senate President.
FC ACADEMIC SENATE UPDATE – Fullerton College Academic Senate President Josh Ashenmiller reported on the Senate celebrating ceremonial business at its last meeting of the semester, consolidated funding streams and new budget allocation models, and the college’s 18 month follow-up accreditation report.
UF UPDATE – United Faculty President Dana Clahane congratulated retirees from the District, recognized classified staff on Education Support Professionals Day, and commented on UF’s Executive Board, Representative Councils, and membership drives.
REFLECTIONS – CSEA President Rod Lusch reflected on his experience at Cypress College over the years and his relationship with former President Dr. Don Bedard who passed away on May 9, 2018.
ADFAC UNITED UPDATE – ADFAC United President Kent Stevenson reported on ADFAC membership drives and District negotiations.
Comments by Members of the Board of Trustees
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS – Cypress College Student Trustee Daniel Sebastian expressed gratitude for his experience serving on the Board of Trustees and thanked Dr. Schilling for supporting students. Fullerton College Student Trustee Andrew Washington thanked Dr. Schulz for supporting students and announced the new Fullerton College Student Trustee.
REGIONAL MILITARY AFFAIRS COMMITTEE MEETING – Board Member Stephen Blount shared that he attended a recent Regional Military Affairs Committee meeting.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS – Board Member Molly McClanahan reflected on her relationship with former Cypress College President Dr. Don Bedard who passed away on May 9, 2018 and thanked the Student Trustees for their service on the Board in 2017-18.
COMMENCEMENTS – Board Member Jeffrey Brown commented on the upcoming Commencement Ceremonies at Cypress College and Fullerton College.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS – Board Member Ryan Bent thanked the Student Trustees for their service on the Board in 2017-18 as well as for their service to Associated Students and their campus communities.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS – Board Member Ed Lopez thanked Dr. Marshall and staff for their work on the Dual Enrollment Report and Cypress College Academic Senate President Bryan Seiling, Cypress College Student Trustee Daniel Sebastian, and Fullerton College Student Trustee Andrew Washington for their service on the Board during the 2017-18 academic year.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS – Board Member Barbara Dunsheath commented on the upcoming Commencement Ceremonies at Cypress College and Fullerton College and thanked the Student Trustees for their service on the Board in 2017-18.
DISTRICT LEADERSHIP ACADEMY – Board Member Jacqueline Rodarte shared that she attended the District Leadership Academy presentations and graduation as well as echoed her appreciation for the Student Trustees.
Finance & Facilities
SURPLUS AUCTION – The Board authorized the request to declare the attached list of items (see agenda) as surplus and for the Liquidation Company to conduct an auction for the sale of the surplus items.
NETWORK REFRESH – The Board authorized the request to proceed with the Procurement/Implementation Phases of the Network Refresh Project using the key recommendations from the Network Design Phase as a basis.
PUBLIC HEARING – The Board conducted a public hearing on the subject of waiving the surplus property procedures for the sale of the Property, APN: 033-083-32 and 003-083-33, and adopted Resolution No. 17/18-15 authorizing the District to request a waiver from the Board of Governors in compliance with Education Code Section 81250 et seq.
NOCCCD DISTRICT-WIDE STRATEGIC PLAN – The Board received as information the North Orange County Community College District District-wide Strategic Plan 2018-2020.
FULLERTON EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT – The Board received as information the Fullerton Education Partnership Agreement.
AUHSD DUAL ENROLLMENT PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT – The Board ratified (6-1) the amendment of the 2017-18 NOCCCD/Fullerton College and Anaheim Union High School District (AUHSD) College and Career Access Pathways (CCAP) Dual Enrollment Partnership Agreement.
FJUHSD DUAL ENROLLMENT PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT – The Board ratified (6-1) the amendment of the 2017-18 NOCCCD/Fullerton College and Fullerton Joint Unified High School District (FJUHSD) College and Career Access Pathways (CCAP) Dual Enrollment Partnership Agreement.
STRATEGIC PARTNER AGREEMENT – The Board received as information the Strategic Partner Agreement between the University of Redlands and Fullerton College/NOCCCD.
PROMOTIONS – The Board approved the promotions of Jorge Gamboa to Fullerton College Dean, Social Sciences, effective May 23, 2018; Jonette Alfajora to Anaheim Campus Payroll Specialist, effective May 14, 2018; Donny Lemos to Cypress College Facilities Custodian II, effective May 23, 2018; Jimmy Llamas to Fullerton College Groundskeeper, effective May 23, 2018; and Raquel Murillo to Special Project Manager, Student Success and Support Program, effective May 23, 2018.
RETIREMENT – The Board approved the retirement of Marla Mallacove, NOCE Instructional Assistant, High School Lab, effective May 10, 2018.
