NOCE “PARENTING: LOVE & LOGIC" PRESENTATION – NOCE Assistant Professor Erin Sherard presented on the Parenting Program “Love & Logic” curriculum, piloting, and development. The presentation highlighted curriculum exploration, “Love & Logic” pilots, and student success and testimonials... ACKNOWLEDGEMENT – Dr. Marshall congratulated Board President Jacqueline Rodarte on being recognized as a Woman of Distinction by Senator Lou Correa.

Cypress College – Dr. JoAnna Schilling, President
CTE PROGRAM SUCCESS – Dr. Schilling announced that Cypress College’s HVAC Program ranks number two in the country by schools.com… CAMPUS ACTIVITIES – The President reported on upcoming campus activities including Cypress Safety Week starting April 2, 2018 and YomHaShoah on April 17, 2018.
Fullerton College – Dr. Greg Schulz, President
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS – Dr. Schulz thanked Dr. Cheryl Marshall and Trustee Molly McClanahan for attending the spring “Coffee with the Chancellor and Board of Trustees” event at Fullerton College on March 19, 2018… FACULTY SENATE – The President updated the Board on work of the college’s Faculty Senate including Guided Pathways, campus safety, and winter intersession… ADVOCACY – Dr. Schulz shared that Senator Josh Newman visited Fullerton College on March 23, 2018 to discuss program completion and transfer, career technical education, and the college’s role in workforce development… CONDOLENCES – The President reported on a memorial service and reception scheduled for April 6, 2018 to honor the late Shirlee Pledger, retired Fullerton College Communication Studies faculty member.
North Orange Continuing Education – Valentina Purtell, Provost
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT – Ms. Purtell thanked NOCE Assistant Professor Erin Sherard for her “Parenting: Love & Logic” presentation to the Board… INSTITUTIONAL PLANNING – The Provost reported on three institutional planning sessions focused on operational efficiency and enrollment growth… RP GROUP NONCREDIT TASKFORCE – Ms. Purtell shared that NOCE’s Office of Institutional Research and Planning hosted the first Research and Planning (RP) Group Noncredit Taskforce on March 23, 2018… CAMPUS EVENT – The Provost reported that Disability Support Services hosted its annual “Transition Night” event on March 21, 2018.

CSEA CONFERENCE – CSEA President Rod Lusch announced the delegates attending the upcoming CSEA conference in Sacramento to represent Chapter 167 and the District.

CAMPUS ACTIVITIES – Cypress College Student Trustee Daniel Sebastian announced that the campus will celebrate female faculty and staff at a “Women’s Recognition” event on April 4, 2018. Fullerton College Student Trustee Andrew Washington reported that Spring Elections for Associated Students are the week of April 2, 2018. Washington also shared that he was approved as a student member of the Umoja State Board.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT – Board Member Stephen Blount shared that he will be unable to attend Fullerton College Night at Angel Stadium on April 6, 2018 because he will be out of town at a conference. Board Member Barbara Dunsheath reported on attending the recent ACCJC Commission Development Workshop.
STRATEGIC CONVERSATION #19 – Board Member Jacqueline Rodarte encouraged members of the Board and the audience to register, via the District website, for the April 10, 2018 Strategic Conversation #19 at Cypress College.
Finance and Facilities
RFQ/P #1718-13 – The Board authorized the request to award RFQ/P #1718-13, Design Build of Fullerton College Instructional Building and Central Plant Expansion Project, to BNBuilders, Inc.
BID #1718-14 – The Board authorized the rejection of all bids for Bid #1718-14, Fullerton College Building 3000 HVAC Upgrade Project, and authorized staff to rebid the project at a later date.
RFQ&P 1718-19 – The Board authorized the request to award RFQ&P 1718-16, CTE Branding, Online Optimization, and Promotion Consulting, to Interact Communications, Inc.
BID #1718-19 – The Board authorized the request to award Bid #1718-19, Anaheim Campus 2nd Floor Counseling Offices and 5th Floor CTE Lab Tenant Improvements, to Interlog Construction as the lowest overall responsive and responsible bidder.
DUDEK AGREEMENT – The Board authorized the request to amend the agreement with Dudek for the preparation of the Fullerton College Sherbeck Field Improvements California Environmental Quality Act documents and extend the term, effective December 30, 2017 through December 31, 2018.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT – The Board authorized the request for Brent Kaufman, Cypress College English professor, to attend the “On Belonging” Conference in London, England from July 26-28, 2018.
GUIDED PATHWAYS – The Board approved the Guided Pathways multi-year plan by Cypress College, Fullerton College, and NOCE.
STRONG WORKFORCE PROGRAM – The Board authorized the request to accept new revenue from Master Agreement and Participation Agreements under the Strong Workforce Program – Regional Fund Grant in the amount of $1,453,418.
RETIREMENT – The Board approved the retirement of Bruce Cordell, Fullerton College Physics Instructor, effective May 27, 2018.
CCC BOARD OF TRUSTEES BOARD OF DIRECTORS – The Board marked its ballot for the California Community College Board of Trustees Board of Directors election. Official ballots must be returned to the League office, postmarked no later than April 25, 2018.
CITIZENS' OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE – The Board appointed Joshua Kazarian as the Fullerton College Student Organization Representative on the Citizens’ Oversight Committee.
