Chancellor’s Report – Dr. Cheryl A. Marshall
"TRANSFER SUCCESS AT FULLERTON COLLEGE" PRESENTATION - Cecilia Arraiza, Director, Transfer Center and Cadena Cultural Center, presented on transfer success at Fullerton College. The presentation highlighted California State University and University of California transfer data, keys to transfer success, and student testimonials.

Cypress College – Dr. JoAnna Schilling, President
CAMPUS SAFETY – Dr. Schilling reflected on outcomes of the March 5, 2018 campus closure including a safety video project with Cypress Police Department… CAMPUS ACTIVITIES – The President reported on campus activities including the musical Grease and Puente Program student participation in the upcoming Latina Leadership Network Conference.
Fullerton College – Dr. Greg Schulz, President
MAJOR DECLARATION DAY – Dr. Schulz acknowledged Fullerton College faculty, staff, and students for their participation in Major Declaration Day on March 7, 2018… SPEECH & DEBATE TEAM – The President shared the success of the campus Speech and Debate Team performing on a national stage against community college and four-year university competitors… WOMEN'S SOFTBALL – Dr. Schulz reported that the Fullerton College Women’s Softball team defeated Cypress College on March 9, 2018.
North Orange Continuing Education – Valentina Purtell, Provost
ADVOCACY – Ms. Purtell reported on noncredit advocacy efforts at State-wide Committees… STUDENT CLUB – The Provost announced NOCE’s first student club, Community Connections, aimed at connecting students and strengthening persistence to program completion and transfer… MENTORSHIP PROGRAM – Ms. Purtell shared that NOCE’s Mentorship Program utilizes a peer-to-peer mentoring approach for transitioning students from NOCE to Fullerton College.

ONLINE EDUCATION – NOCE Academic Senate President Tina McClurkin commented on the formation of a faculty workgroup for online education.
CC SENATE UPDATE – Cypress College Academic Senate President Bryan Seiling reported on the March 5, 2018 campus closure, national school walkouts, accreditation, guided pathways, dual enrollment, and the campus musical Grease.
UNITED FACULTY UPDATE – United Faculty President Dana Clahane announced upcoming elections for the UF Executive Board and Representative Council seats, and expressed a need for competitiveness from the District in regards to the online college and funding formula.
ADFAC NETWORKING MEETINGS – ADFAC United President Kent Stevenson expressed appreciation for meetings with Vice Chancellor, Human Resources, Irma Ramos and District Director, Human Resources, Julie Kossick regarding legislation AB 119.

CAMPUS EVENTS – Cypress College Student Trustee Daniel Sebastian reported on campus activities including: national school walkouts; Senior Day; and Blood Drive. Fullerton College Student Trustee Andrew Washington commented on campus activities including: Transfer Awareness Week events; Orange County Transportation Authority presentation; and Leadership in Training Retreat at California Polytechnic State University.
GUIDED PATHWAYS – Board Member Molly McClanahan shared information from Los Angeles Times on connecting artificial intelligence with humanities in regards to guided pathways.
ADVERTISING – Board Member Ed Lopez expressed an interest in expanding District and campus advertising efforts.
DISTRICT & COMMUNITY EVENTS – Board Member Barbara Dunsheath reminded attendees about the District-wide Strategic Conversation #19 event “Pathways Perspectives: Meeting Our Promise” to be held April 10, 2018 at Cypress College. She also reported on the Faculty Association of California Community Colleges Policy and Advocacy Conference in Sacramento.
GREASE – Board Member Jackie Rodarte encouraged members of the Board and the audience to see the Cypress College musical Grease.
Finance and Facilities
PURCHASE ORDERS AND CHECKS – The Board ratified purchase orders and checks. (THE PURCHASE ORDERS AND CHECKS ARE AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW IN THE DISTRICT'S BUSINESS OFFICE).
FUNDS – The Board authorized the 2017-18 General Fund, Bond Building Fund, and Capital Outlay Fund transfers and adopted the resolutions showing the summary. (THE RESOLUTIONS ARE AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW IN THE DISTRICT'S BUSINESS OFFICE).
RELOCATABLE MODULAR BUILDING – The Board approved the purchase of the approved DSA relocatable modular building from SKC through the Piggyback Bid No. 1512, District-wide Rental and/or Purchase of Relocatable Modular Buildings from Garden Grove Unified School District in the amount of $495,180 plus tax.
HILL RANCH PARTNERSHIP – The Board authorized the request to enter into a lease agreement with Hill Ranch Partnership for Chapman Avenue Lot off-site parking.
INNOVATIVE PERFORMANCE SOLUTIONS – The Board authorized the request to increase the purchase order for Innovative Performance Solutions, Inc. (IPS) from $80,000 to $130,000.
CURRICULUM – The Board approved the summary of curriculum changes for Cypress College, to be effective Fall 2018.
SPONSORSHIP – The Board authorized the request to accept new revenue from the Sponsorship through the Sector Navigator – Business and Entrepreneurship in the amount of $7,500.
FUNDS – The Board authorized the request to make adjustments to the General Fund, Capital Outlay Fund, and Financial Aid Fund revenue and expenditure budgets in accordance with the revised fiscal year 2017-18 allocations.
GUIDED PATHWAYS – The Board received as information summaries of the guided pathways multi-year plans for Cypress College, Fullerton College, and NOCE.
RESOLUTION NO. 17/18-12 – The Board adopted Resolution No. 17/18-12, Trustee Absence, verifying that Trustee Ed Lopez was absent on February 27, 2018 due to illness.
The next regular meeting of the NOCCCD Board of Trustees will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, in the first-floor Board Room, Anaheim Campus, 1830 W. Romneya Drive, Anaheim.
